Christian Gerhard PASSIN was born in 1968, St. Veit/Glan, Austria. He followed studies in political sciences, history and philosophy.


He currently helds the position of position of Manager South-Eastern Europe, Political Academy of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP).


He is Member of the International Co-ordination Committee of the Austrian People's Party; Member of the Foreign and European Policy Committee of the Austrian People's Party; Member of the Presidency of the Austrian People's Party district organization in Wien-Währing (in charge of media affairs, organisation and elections); Member of the District Council Wien-Währing (XVIIIth Viennese District, 45.000 inhabitants); Member of the District Electoral Auditing Board of Wien-Währing; Secretary General of the Association for a United Europe (NGO dealing with democracy projects in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe) and Financial Auditor of the European Academy Vienna (NGO dealing with European policy projects in Austria and the new EU-member states).


He is also trainer and expert for EU related issues, Campaigning & Elections, Political Parties, Media related issues.


Relevant professional experience:

1995 - 1996: Senior Political Advisor to the DEMYC delegation at the UN World Youth Forum in Vienna
1997 - 2000: Assistant to the Executive Secretary for the European Democrat Union (EDU); Strategic and Analysis unit for political developments in the Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and CIS-countries
2000 - 2002: Project Co-Ordinator of the "Western Balkan Democracy Project" in co-operation with the Renner Institute, the Council of Europe and the Austrian Foreign Ministry for the Political Academy of the Austrian People's Party
2002 - present: Manager South-Eastern Europe for the Political Academy of the Austrian People's Party, working in scientific research and analysis of political and social developments in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern-Europe; co-ordination of seminars and projects in co-operation with national and international foundations of Conservative and Christian-Democratic Parties
2004 - 2007: Project Co-Ordinator of the Project "Society in the Western Balkans: Development and Progress" in co-operation with the Renner Institute, the Austrian Foreign Ministry and the Austrian Development Agency for the Political Academy of the ustrian People's Party Project Co-Ordinator
